Two Hours of Prayer in Onna Village

October 29, 2026

A short e-bike tour through Onna Village's settlements, centered on the theme of prayer. Just two hours, but incredibly rich.

Have you ever felt the quiet air of an Okinawan settlement?

We set off from Onna Village, riding first along a calm river.

The wind felt great that day. Big clouds overhead, the river beside us. With an e-bike, you can take in views like this without getting out of breath.

A little further, we entered the settlement itself. We stopped in front of an old prayer site.

This is the highlight of the day. Vines wrap around concrete pillars, and a small shrine sits quietly within. Take a moment here, with your guide, to put your hands together.

Okinawa still holds many of these small prayer sites scattered through its settlements. Places you'd normally pass by, but on a bike, you can simply stop.

Leaving the settlement, the view opens up. The sea stretches out ahead, shifting from blue to emerald green. We parked the bikes under a tree and just looked out at it for a while.

Our last stop was an old building with a red tile roof, where you can see the detail of traditional Okinawan roof tiles up close.

In just two hours: a river, a settlement, a place of prayer, the sea, red tiles. Okinawa, packed tightly into one short ride.

It's a small group, with your guide right beside you the whole way. No cycling experience needed.

The next person to ride this road could be you.
